Hartsop Above How
A lone walker in his 70s became exhausted and unable to continue in deep snow on Hartsop Above How on 12 January. Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and a coastguard helicopter attended; the casualty was wrapped in protective equipment and evacuated by stretcher through difficult snow conditions before being airlifted to Carlisle hospital.
Outcome: evacuated by helicopter to Carlisle hospital
