Lake District fells: Windy Gap/Great Gable, High Snockrigg/Buttermere, Wind Gap (Pillar/Scoat Fell), Red Pike

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team responded to four incidents over the Christmas period in the Lake District. These included two walkers benighted below Great Gable, a couple cragfast after high winds damaged their tent above Buttermere, a man who fell and broke his arm in Wind Gap and required helicopter evacuation, and a couple disoriented on Red Pike in failing light.

Outcome: all casualties safely evacuated; man with broken arm airlifted to hospital by Coastguard helicopter
