Annalong Valley, Mourne Mountains
A walker fell approximately 50 metres at the water slabs in Annalong Valley in the Mourne Mountains on Monday afternoon. He sustained serious injuries to his head, neck and chest and was airlifted by Dublin Coastguard helicopter to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. The rescue operation, involving 18 Mourne Mountain Rescue Team volunteers and ambulance service personnel, took approximately 4½ hours.
