crag-fast walker with dogs Lake District
High Crag, Buttermere
A walker became crag-fast on High Crag buttress at Buttermere while attempting to retrieve her two dogs that had become stuck on the crag. Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called by mountain bikers who heard shouts for help and located the casualty in the dark and windy conditions. The walker and both dogs were safely rescued using fixed rope systems and escorted back to their vehicle.
Outcome: casualty and both dogs safely rescued and reunited at vehicle
