Helvellyn, above Red Tarn near Swirral Edge
A man in his 70s suffered a medical episode and collapsed while climbing on Helvellyn above Red Tarn near Swirral Edge on Saturday afternoon. Despite immediate first aid from nearby members of the public and medical professionals, along with efforts from Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team doctors and Helimed 08 crew, he could not be revived. His body was recovered to Patterdale base with care and dignity.
