Great Dodd Fell

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team attended to a walker who had twisted their ankle at the wind shelter on Great Dodd Fell during Storm Amy on 3 October 2025. The team of 13 members battled 80mph winds and torrential rain to reach and evacuate the casualty by stretcher, with one team member also sustaining a leg injury during the operation. The five-hour callout highlighted the dangers of fell walking during severe weather conditions.

Outcome: casualty evacuated by stretcher; one team member twisted leg but able to walk down

Support the team who responded. They turn out unpaid, in all weather — every team is a volunteer-run charity.
