High Stile, Buttermere fells

Two walkers strayed from the path on High Stile in the Buttermere fells on 19 April and became cold, tired and weak as darkness fell. One casualty showing early signs of hypothermia was airlifted to safety by HM Coastguard Helicopter, while the other was brought down on foot by mountain rescue volunteers. Both walkers were reunited safely.

Outcome: both walkers rescued; one airlifted by helicopter, one escorted down on foot
