A multi-agency response was launched on 23 July after reports of a vessel sinking on Ullswater. Upon arrival, the vessel was found to be fully submerged with no persons reported onboard. A comprehensive search by coastguard, police, and mountain rescue teams found nothing, and the search was suspended in the early hours of 24 July.
