A hillwalker suffered a soft tissue injury to their lower leg on Sgùrr Breac in Wester Ross on Monday evening, making walking unbearable. The casualty managed to descend approximately 5 km from the summit before stopping to call for assistance. Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team responded with nineteen volunteers, treated the casualty, and evacuated them by stretcher to the team vehicles.

hypothermic hillwalker Highlands
A hypothermic hillwalker lost in Glen Douchary east of Ullapool raised the alarm by mobile phone after spending 22 hours in severe weather conditions. Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team used local knowledge and descriptions from the casualty to locate him in the remote glen and treated him for mild hypothermia before escorting him off the hills.

A walker became stranded on the north-eastern slopes of Sgurr Fiona on An Teallach after taking a wrong turn. A complex rescue operation involving multiple teams and assets lasted for approximately 20 hours before the individual was safely brought back to the team base.
Outcome: The individual was safely rescued and found to be in good health.
Stretcher Rescue/Injury Highlands
The team completed an overnight stretcher rescue of a hiker with a lower leg injury on Ben Klibreck in difficult weather conditions. Following the initial rescue, the team also conducted searches for missing persons at Eas a' Chual Aluinn and assisted another local mountain rescue team earlier in the week.

Dog Rescue/Cornice Incident Highlands
A group of hikers were approaching the summit of Fionn Bheinn when their dogs fell through a cornice. The following morning, mountain rescue teams located one missing dog in a hollow below the summit after a cold night.

Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team was deployed to An Teallach following calls for assistance regarding three walkers. After extensive searching, two of the individuals were located, with one requiring hospital treatment. The body of their companion was subsequently recovered with the aid of RAF Lossiemouth.

Dog rescue/Snow cornice fall Highlands
A spaniel dog survived an overnight ordeal after falling through a snow cornice on a peak in Ross-shire. Following initial rescue efforts for the group of walkers and dogs, the missing dog was eventually located by the team member who was lowered into the corrie.

A cyclist was airlifted from Fyrish Hill in Easter Ross after sustaining injury in an accident on Wednesday. Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team and the HM Coastguard helicopter from Inverness Airport coordinated the rescue, winching the casualty aboard before transport to Raigmore Hospital.

Two walkers became disoriented in hazardous terrain on Slioch near Kinlochewe after triggering an alert. Following a search involving 17 team members and two dogs, contact was made later that evening, allowing the walkers to safely descend with guidance.

An injured walker on the remote Affric ridge above Alltbeith was evacuated by a collaborative rescue involving Kintail and Dundonnell mountain rescue teams. The casualty was stretchered down to below cloud base and extracted by HM Coastguard helicopter from Stornoway to Fort William.

Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team responded to two separate incidents on 27 March 2024. A walker fell over 20 feet in the Mullardoch hills and sustained a head injury, requiring helicopter evacuation to hospital. About an hour later, the team attended a rock climber injury at Moy crags, who was also taken to hospital.

A hillwalker slid approximately 100 metres on An Cabar, a subsidiary summit of Ben Wyvis, and became immobilised on a steep snow slope. Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, assisted by search dogs and a coastguard helicopter, located the casualty and carried them to safer terrain, from where they were airlifted to Raigmore Hospital.

A walker on An Teallach was reported overdue after spending over 26 hours on the hill. A six-year-old child and a 29-year-old man fell approximately 300 feet down the side of Fyrish Hill near Alness in the Scottish Highlands. The child sustained a fractured leg and was lowered by rope system to a forestry track before being airlifted to Raigmore Hospital; the man suffered minor injuries and walked off the hill with assistance.

Two people got into difficulties in a river near Plodda Falls and made their own way out, but then could not be located. A base jumper in his 20s was slammed into the north face of An Teallach by a wind gust moments after jumping from the summit ridge.
