Volunteers from Glenelg were called out to assist with the recovery of a cow that became stuck in a peatbog near Glenelg. After an hour and a half of effort involving digging and careful pulling, the animal was successfully brought to safety.

missing hillwalker - fatality Highlands Serious incident
A 61-year-old comedian was found dead in the Five Sisters of Kintail in the Scottish Highlands after failing to return from a hillwalk. His body was recovered by Kintail Mountain Rescue assisted by Glenelg Mountain Rescue Team, Police Scotland and the Coastguard. Police confirmed the death as unexplained but not suspicious, with a report to be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Following the discovery of a missing walker's body in the water near Kinloch Hourn, extensive search efforts were conducted with assistance from air support and mountain rescue teams. The family has since launched a fundraiser to honour the professionalism shown by all the volunteer teams involved in the search operation.

A climber sustained multiple injuries after falling approximately 15 metres on the north-west ridge of Sgùrr nan Eag. Following initial difficulties due to low cloud, team members reached the casualty on foot before lowering them to safer ground. The individual was eventually airlifted from Coire Ghrunnda to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

A couple became cragfast (stranded on a crag) while descending Beinn Sgritheall on the Glenelg peninsula on the evening of 5 May. Glenelg Mountain Rescue Team and Kintail MRT located and safely escorted them down, standing down just before midnight.

A walker sustained a serious head injury after falling down a mountain in the Northwest Highlands. Rescue teams were able to reach the casualty despite low cloud cover and successfully prepared them for airlift.

A hillwalker fell approximately 15 metres down a steep rocky section near the summit of Sgurr na Carnach, Five Sisters of Kintail on Saturday, 6 July 2024, sustaining a serious head injury. Mountain rescue teams from Glenelg and Kintail attended, and the casualty was airlifted to hospital by rescue helicopter after being stretchered down from the ridge.

Fall/Injury Highlands
Mountain rescue teams were called out on Saturday afternoon following an incident near the summit of the Five Sisters of Kintail. A hillwalker sustained a serious head injury after falling down a steep section of rock. Following initial efforts hampered by low cloud cover, rescuers successfully stabilized and airlifted the injured person to hospital.
