Ceunant Mawr, Llanberis

Drowning/Water Rescue Snowdonia Serious incident

Rescue volunteers were called out after an individual got into difficulty in the water at Ceunant Mawr waterfall near Llanberis. The incident was described by the team as a 'very near drowning' and was part of several emergencies dealt with over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Outcome: Near drowning incident; multiple other call-outs related to heat and slips were also reported.

Crib Goch and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)

Search and recovery/Fatality Snowdonia Serious incident

Two young men were found deceased on the Crib y Ddysgl ridge near the summit of Yr Wyddfa after being reported missing. Search efforts were conducted by multiple rescue teams in challenging winter conditions before the bodies were located.

Outcome: Fatalities confirmed; inquest opened.

Eryri

Missing persons search Snowdonia

Search operations were conducted in the Eryri mountain range following reports of two missing men. During these searches, bodies were discovered.

Outcome: Fatalities found

Yr Wyddfa

Search and Recovery Snowdonia

A multi-agency search operation was conducted on Yr Wyddfa following welfare concerns for two missing men. The bodies of the two individuals were eventually found and recovered by the rescue teams.

Outcome: Fatal

Mountain Rescue/Getting Stuck Snowdonia Serious incident

Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team responded to multiple call-outs in November involving young men who were found to have underestimated the difficulty of the terrain. One incident detailed how a group became stuck on Crib Goch due to poor planning and deteriorating weather, requiring rescue after several hours.

Outcome: All individuals were safely rescued and treated by the mountain rescue team.
