Dinorwig slate quarries (Sinc Galed/California), Gwynedd, Snowdonia

Two climbers became stuck on an unstable ledge approximately 35 metres from the top of an eastern wall at Dinorwig slate quarries (Sinc Galed/California) on 25 March 2023 while attempting to scramble to the top without a plan. Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team deployed twelve members and safely rescued both casualties using rope systems. The incident prompted a warning from the team about the dangers of visiting slate quarries for social media content.

Outcome: both casualties secured and lifted to safety using two-line hauling system
