unwell walker Lake District
Scafell Pike
A female walker became unwell and unable to descend from Scafell Pike on 6 June 2026. Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team, assisted by Coastguard Rescue 897 and Duddon & Furness MRT, located and treated the casualty before airlifting her to hospital. Her dog was cared for by team members until the casualty's husband could collect it.
Outcome: casualty airlifted to hospital by Coastguard helicopter; dog safely walked off and cared for by rescue team
