Pen Cerrig Calch, Black Mountains, near Crickhowell
Three Royal Military Academy Sandhurst cadets were rescued from Pen Cerrig Calch in the Black Mountains after being exposed to unpredictable weather conditions during an exercise. The multi-agency rescue involved Longtown, Brecon and Central Brecon Mountain Rescue Teams, a Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter, police and ambulance services. Two casualties were airlifted to hospital and one transported by road.
Outcome: two airlifted to Grange University Hospital Cwmbran, one transported by road to Prince Charles Hospital Merthyr
