Glas Maol, Cairngorms

Avalanche/Search and Rescue Highlands

Outcome: The individual was found alive with cuts and bruises after falling hundreds of feet during an avalanche. Multiple agencies responded to the incident in poor visibility.

Hypothermia/Stranding Highlands

Three walkers required rescue in The Pools of Dee within the Lairig Ghru area after becoming stranded during a blizzard. Mountain rescue teams were called out to locate the group, who were subsequently given shelter and assisted down the mountain with the help of all-terrain vehicles.

Outcome: Rescued and safely brought down to Braemar.

Cairn Toul

Lost/Exposure Highlands

A group of four walkers required rescue on Cairn Toul after becoming lost and suffering from exposure during a 24-hour walk. Mountain rescue teams located the party in the early hours when they were found to be wet, cold, and one individual was hypothermic.

Outcome: All rescued safely but tired

Beinn a’ Bhuird, Cairngorms

Climbing/Injury Rescue Highlands

Emergency crews responded to reports of an injured climber on Mitre Ridge at Beinn a’ Bhuird. The operation involved multiple teams and culminated in the successful airlift of two climbers to safety.

Outcome: Two climbers safely rescued; one treated for shoulder injury.
