Poldice Valley

injured trail user South West

A trail user fell from their bike in Poldice Valley and sustained a lower leg injury. West Cornwall Search & Rescue assisted in evacuating the casualty by stretcher to a waiting ambulance approximately 15 minutes away.

Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Eryri

heat-related emergencies, falls, slips, near-drowning Snowdonia Serious incident

Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team responded to 14 heat-related incidents on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) over the Bank Holiday weekend in sweltering conditions. Three people were airlifted to hospital with suspected sunstroke or heat-related illness, and the team dealt with multiple falls, slips, exhaustion cases, and a near-drowning at a waterfall. The team warned walkers and dog owners about the dangers of mountain exposure during high temperatures.

Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team responded to a very near drowning incident at Ceunant Mawr waterfall near Llanberis over a Bank Holiday weekend during exceptionally warm weather. The casualty was rescued in a nick-of-time intervention at the hazardous two-stage waterfall, which has a history of drowning incidents despite prominent warning signs.

Dumyat Hill

A woman was injured on Dumyat Hill on 24 May 2026 and was rescued by Ochils Mountain Rescue Team around 12:30pm. She was stretchered off the hill and handed over to Scottish Ambulance Service for transport to hospital.

Chepstow (River Wye)

Water rescue/Assistance South West

Lifeboat crews responded to two incidents near Chepstow on Sunday afternoon. The first involved assisting a yacht that had experienced engine failure in the River Wye, and the second required assistance with a vulnerable person at Chepstow Castle.

Outcome: All persons involved were reported safe.

Old Man of Coniston

A member of a family sustained injuries to both legs after slipping while descending the Old Man of Coniston on a warm, sunny day. Rescue personnel attended the scene, splinted the leg, and carried the individual down to the quarry before arranging transport to hospital.

Stand Crag

Lost/Navigation Difficulty Lake District

Wasdale MRT responded to Cumbria Police regarding a group of nine people who were reported lost near Stand Crag. After making contact and advising the group to walk downhill towards Wasdale, team members located all individuals safe and well near Wasdale Head.

Outcome: All safe

Hollowstones, Scafell Pike

Injured & Medical Lake District

A full callout was required for an individual who sustained a knee injury while descending from Hollowstones on Scafell Pike. The casualty was assessed and stabilised at the scene before being stretchered down the hill and handed over to friends for onward transport.

Outcome: Handed over to friends for onward transport home.

Scafell Pike

Lost/Separated Lake District

Cumbria Police contacted the Wasdale MRT regarding a party of three who had become separated on Scafell Pike. After initial difficulties with communication, it was confirmed that all members of the group were safely descending from the mountain.

Outcome: All safe

Moel Yr Accre

Paraglider accident Snowdonia

A paraglider accident occurred near the summit of Moel Yr Accre on 23 May. The individual involved sustained a lower leg injury and required assistance off the hill. Access and extraction were complicated by dense gorse covering the terrain.

Outcome: Lower leg injury, required extraction

Claife Heights

Injury (Ankle) Lake District

A woman sustained an ankle injury after slipping on wet and slippery forest paths at Claife Heights. The rescue team assisted with stretcher carrying her down to a waiting land ambulance by Windermere lake.

Silverdale

Slip/Fall Pennines

Mountain rescue volunteers attended an incident involving a 62-year-old woman who had slipped down a grassy embankment in Silverdale. The team assisted with the evacuation of the casualty across fields to an awaiting ambulance for hospital transport.

Goyt in Brinscall

Mountain Rescue was called out on Saturday afternoon to assist with an individual who had fallen from their mountain bike near the Goyt in Brinscall. The person sustained an injury to their left ankle, which was assessed as a potential break. Volunteers successfully transported the casualty across difficult ground to where an ambulance was waiting.

Missing Person Lake District

Cumbria Police requested assistance in searching for a missing person within Eskdale. Multiple mountain rescue teams and search dogs were deployed to cover the area until the individual was located inside their tent.

Mountain rescue teams were called out to a walker who had fallen in Birchen Clough near Dove Stones on Friday afternoon. Following initial checks by paramedics, the casualty was safely escorted down the challenging path for onward care.

Two hikers fell seriously ill on the West Highland Way after drinking contaminated water from a burn near Conic Hill. Both were rescued by Lomond Mountain Rescue; one required nearly ten hours of treatment for vomiting, and the other was taken to hospital after becoming unable to walk. Lomond Mountain Rescue and the National Park authority have issued guidance recommending the use of bottled water or treated water sources rather than untreated burn water.

Outcome: both hikers rescued; one treated on scene after ten hours, one evacuated to hospital

Rowardennan, Loch Lomond

A person became unwell at Rowardennan after drinking untreated water from a local source, requiring assistance from Lomond Mountain Rescue. The incident was the second such case in a week, prompting rangers and the rescue team to issue warnings to visitors about the risks of consuming untreated water from burns, rivers, and lochs.
