A 35-year-old man died after falling approximately 100 metres off Striding Edge on Helvellyn on 28 July 2024. Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and a Coastguard search and rescue helicopter responded, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
