Five people and a dog became stranded on Striding Edge in winter conditions on 10 January 2026. Two teenage boys, among four helpers who intervened before professional rescue teams arrived, were later commended by Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team for their impressive mountain skills and quick thinking during the rescue.
