Striding Edge, Helvellyn and Ullswater

Patterdale Mountain Rescue responded to two incidents on 8 November 2024. A casualty with a medical condition became crag-fast on Striding Edge, Helvellyn and required stretcher evacuation by the team after a rescue helicopter was unable to assist due to low cloud. A second casualty with a leg injury was rescued on the east side of Ullswater and taken to hospital.

Outcome: Both casualties evacuated by stretcher; first taken via team transport, second to hospital via land ambulance

Support the team who responded. They turn out unpaid, in all weather — every team is a volunteer-run charity.
