Incident reports

The rescue team responded to multiple incidents across three separate days in August. On 13 August, they assisted a collapsed walker near Clun Gwyn waterfall, a walker with a finger injury, and a couple who were off-route. On 17 August, they helped with two injuries at Bike Park Wales, and on 19 August, they evacuated a walker with a suspected broken ankle from the waterfalls area by stretcher.

A 15-year-old female slipped and twisted her knee while descending Scafell Pike on the Lingmell Gill Path. Mountain rescue team members checked her over, confirmed she was able to walk with support, and assisted her down to the car park where she was advised to attend hospital for further assessment.

Two fellwalkers were reported in distress on Seat Sandal on 13 August 2026. They were being assisted down the hill by other people present, and the rescue team monitored the situation while continuing with another ongoing operation.

A 72-year-old male fell on rocks while watching his family fish near Carnforth on the coast. He was attended by the team and paramedics, assessed for injuries including an arm injury and reported loss of consciousness, and was walked to waiting ambulances. The casualty was successfully transferred to land ambulance care.

A 36-year-old male walker on the Three Peaks route reported exhaustion near Ingleborough's Swine Tail path. The team made contact, confirmed he had supplies, provided reassurance and directions, and the walker was able to continue.

A jet-skier was rescued by SARA (Severn Area Rescue Association) volunteers after becoming stranded on the River Wye. The incident occurred during a mayoral visit to SARA's headquarters at Beachley, with the rescue boat departing to assist the casualty while the mayor and councillors observed operations from the control room. The man and his jet ski were towed back to base.

A 46-year-old female fell near the summit of Beacon Fell and sustained an injured right ankle. The team assisted North West Ambulance Service paramedics in treating and immobilising the injury, then transferred the casualty by stretcher to the car park for ambulance evacuation.

A person fell at Devil's Pulpit near Loch Lomond on 11 August and sustained an ankle injury. Lomond Mountain Rescue used ropes to safely evacuate the casualty from Finnich Glen gorge on a stretcher. The person was transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

A boy slipped on Black Crag and sustained a lower arm injury. Team members assessed him, provided pain relief, splinted and slung his arm, then assisted in evacuation to hospital via Tarn Howes car park.

A walker sustained an ankle injury near Castell Dinas Bran on 10th August. The team provided pain relief and splinted the leg before evacuating the casualty by stretcher to the roadhead, where Welsh Ambulance Services took over care.

A gentleman suffered a medical episode in Grizedale Forest near Scale Green on 10 August 2026. The North West Ambulance Service requested assistance but stood down the team after the casualty recovered prior to deployment.

A walker who tripped and fell down a steep bank near Wetheral was rescued after becoming trapped in a hornets nest. Penrith Mountain Rescue Team, working with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service, used a rope system to haul the casualty and stretcher up the slope before transferring them to an ambulance.

A hillwalker slipped on Pinnacle Ridge at St Sunday Crag on 9 August 2026 and sustained a severe knee dislocation. Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and Coastguard helicopter coordinated a winch evacuation, with the casualty airlifted to hospital.

A walker sustained an injury from a fall and reported chest pain at Alwen Reservoir on 9th August. The team responded with North Wales Police and Maritime and Coastguard Agency to evacuate the casualty to medical care.

A climber fell at Wintour's Leap near Chepstow on 9 August 2026. The Severn Area Rescue Association and Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service coordinated a multi-agency rescue, initially planning a rope rescue but switching to a boat extraction due to tidal conditions. The casualty was evacuated by lifeboat and transferred to an ambulance at Beachley.

A lone male walker reported being stuck and uncomfortable at Stand Crag on the Corridor Route. Before the mountain rescue team reached the location, the walker self-rescued back onto the main path and descended safely. The team stood down after confirming he had left the hill.

A horse rider fell on Yennadon Down above Burrator Reservoir and sustained back pain. The team assisted South West Ambulance Service in immobilising the casualty with a vacuum mattress and stretcher evacuation to the waiting ambulance.

A 66-year-old female camper slipped whilst walking to her tent at the Gaping Gill winch meet. The team assisted her into an ATV and transported her to the depot for assessment by paramedics.

A walker became lost in the Clwydians on 8 August with limited phone battery and no water. The team assisted North Wales Police in locating and helping the walker off the hill using Sarloc Rescue PhoneFind technology.

On 8 August, the team assisted North Wales Police in searching for a missing person in the Mold area. Team members who were nearby fundraising quickly deployed to assist, with additional members joining the search as they arrived.
