A 55-year-old woman from Cinderford in the Forest of Dean went missing on 23 April 2020 after last being seen in the Soudley area. Gloucestershire Police, the National Police Air Service helicopter, and Severn Area Rescue Association conducted a search operation. The woman was subsequently found.

3 incidents injured fell walker Lake District Serious incident
An experienced fell walker fell 600ft down Pillar mountain in the Lake District after slipping on ice near the summit. He was halted by snow debris just 20ft from a cliff edge and sustained a broken neck, head lacerations, and a chipped elbow bone. Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team, the Coastguard, and the Great North Air Ambulance evacuated him by helicopter to hospital, where he underwent neck surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

A 35-year-old climber fell 650ft from Crib Goch ridge in Snowdonia on Sunday and was rescued by three mountain rescue teams in severe weather; he suffered a broken leg, shoulder, wrist and severe cuts and was airlifted to hospital. Separately, four university students were rescued from high on Tryfan in an 11-hour overnight operation after becoming stuck near Grooved Arete in horrendous conditions, and a fifth member of their party was found after becoming lost.

A Border collie named Nell ran off after being frightened by a rescue helicopter during an operation in Fisherfield Forest in the Northwest Highlands. Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team used barbecued sausages and bacon to lure the dog back to safety the following day, and she was successfully reunited with her owner.

A climber missing since 28 February after being caught in an avalanche on Aonach Mòr was found deceased on the West Face on 9 March. His climbing companion was injured in the incident but survived. The search involved approximately 800 man-hours and three rescue teams.

A missing walker reported missing from Ben Nevis on Sunday was found deceased on the southern slopes near the waterslide on Thursday afternoon. Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team assisted in recovering the body. The man had posted social media messages from near Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe before going missing.

A climber was injured after being caught in an avalanche in Number 5 Gully on Ben Nevis during a period of heightened avalanche risk across Scotland's mountains. Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team responded to the incident. The incident occurred amid prolonged snowfall that raised avalanche hazard levels to 'high' in Lochaber and 'considerable' in five other monitored areas.

A major search was underway for a Slovak walker missing on Ben Nevis, last spotted above Half Way Lochan on Thursday morning. Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, assisted by a helicopter and neighbouring rescue groups, mobilised approximately 39 personnel to search the area despite challenging weather conditions forecast for the region.

A 37-year-old hillwalker died after falling from the summit of Liathach in the Torridon area on Thursday. The alarm was raised at 16:25 and Torridon Mountain Rescue Team assisted at the scene.

A woman suffered an ankle injury while walking on the Pyg Track on Snowdon on 18 February 2020. More than 20 mountain rescue volunteers and a coastguard helicopter were deployed to assist. She was successfully airlifted to hospital by helicopter despite challenging flying conditions.

stranded motorist in floods South West
A 62-year-old woman from the Midlands became stranded overnight after driving into floods near Bigsweir Bridge. Unable to call for help due to no phone service, she climbed onto the roof of her car where she spent the night. She was rescued the following morning by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Severn Area Rescue Association using a boat and inflatable sled, and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The Severn Area Rescue Association rescued a professional footballer and a 91-year-old woman during Storm Dennis flooding in Worcestershire. The footballer was retrieved from the roof of his car in floodwater, whilst the elderly woman was evacuated from her cottage which had become dangerously flooded. Both rescues were completed safely.

A 42-year-old man died after falling approximately 100 feet into a gorge on Stob Ban during Storm Dennis while on a winter hills training course. The incident occurred in severe weather conditions with winds gusting over 50 mph, and the casualty was recovered by the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team after a challenging rescue operation.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team responded to an incident involving four foreign nationals rescued from Ben Nevis during a blizzard. Three of the walkers were found wearing trainers near the summit and were subsequently airlifted to hospital after being helped down to Halfway Lochan.

Moffat Mountain Rescue Team assisted 12 people stranded in vehicles on the A702 at Dalveen Pass near Durisdeer during severe snow conditions on Tuesday night. Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team also responded to a separate incident in the Borders where a vehicle had slipped off the road in blizzard conditions.

Four tourists visiting Scotland were caught in blizzard conditions on Ben Nevis wearing inappropriate clothing and carrying no winter equipment or maps. Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team located them near the summit using mobile phone signal and a location-sharing app, and all four were evacuated by helicopter to hospital for assessment.

An injured kayaker capsized in the River Tees in County Durham on 1 February and suffered upper body injuries. Multiple rescue teams coordinated to carry him up a steep river bank on a stretcher before being winched aboard a HM Coastguard helicopter and airlifted to James Cook University Hospital.

3 incidents collapsed runner Southern Uplands
A competitor in the Montane Spine Race collapsed and injured himself on Border Ridge at Score Head during the endurance event along the Pennine Way. He was treated by medical personnel and stretchered from the remote location by Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team and North of Tyne team, then transported to hospital by ambulance.
Outcome: casualty stretchered off hill and transported to hospital by ambulance

A woman suffered a suspected broken ankle while walking near Sgwd yr Eira waterfall in the Brecon Beacons. Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team attended and carried her on a stretcher to a Coastguard helicopter, which airlifted her to hospital with support from Welsh Ambulance Service paramedics.

Two walkers strayed into a gully while climbing the North Ridge of Tryfan in Snowdonia after losing their way despite receiving directions from another group. They were winched to safety by a coastguard helicopter and taken to a place of safety.
