A 51-year-old woman from Alloa went missing on 1 March 2018 after becoming lost in the Ochils near Menstrie during blizzard conditions. Despite a major search and rescue operation involving police, coastguard and mountain rescue volunteers, her body was recovered the following afternoon near Dumyat Farm.

Two bodies were recovered from Lochaber mountains on Saturday. One was found on Sgurr Thuilm following a fall, and the second was located on Beinn a'Chaorainn after a two-week search for a man who had fallen through a cornice. Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team attended three call-outs that day with assistance from Tayside, RAF, and Coastguard teams.

A walker died after falling approximately 800 feet down a steep snowy slope at Clogwyn Coch on Snowdon. The incident occurred in snowy and icy conditions on the Llanberis Path. Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team and a helicopter were called out on Saturday.

Mountain rescue teams in the Scottish Highlands located the body of Jim Stalker, missing since 11 February near Beinn a Chaorainn, with assistance from Lochaber, Tayside and RAF teams. Two other men remain missing: Marcin Bialas (missing since 21 January after falling through a cornice on Ben Nevis) and Neil Gibson (missing since 8 February in the Achnashellach area), with search efforts hampered by severe winter conditions and high avalanche risk.

Two brothers and their dog went missing on a hill walk in the Wester Ross area on Thursday morning. Mountain rescue teams found the body of one brother, Alan Gibson, on Saturday, while the search for his brother Neil continued. Weather conditions during the search were described as tricky with frequent snow showers.

A 56-year-old man from Stalybridge became stuck in a peat bog at Dovestones, submerged to his waist and gradually sinking. Police and Oldham Mountain Rescue worked together to excavate him using straps and heather, freeing him after approximately one hour. He was treated for exposure but sustained no injuries.

A 51-year-old man from Oldham was reported missing on 26 January 2018 and was last seen in the Dovestone area on the following afternoon. Mountain rescue teams from Oldham MRT, supported by police, conducted search operations in the reservoir area.

A 65-year-old hillwalker went missing on Lochnagar on Friday evening after failing to return from a walk. The search was suspended on Saturday due to extreme weather conditions with winds exceeding 100mph, and was to resume on Sunday morning. The walker had not been located as of the publication of this report.

A climber who fell through a snow cornice into Observatory Gully on Ben Nevis in January was found deceased following an extensive search by Lochaber Mountain Rescue. The body was recovered from the gully in June after previous search efforts had been hampered by deep snow conditions.

Two men in their twenties became trapped at the bottom of a 50-foot sewer shaft in Oldham town centre after abseiling down on makeshift equipment as a prank. Fire crews and Oldham Mountain Rescue Team attended and used ropes and harnesses to rescue both casualties, who suffered only minor cuts and bruises.

A man who fell from Ben Nevis in January was found deceased in Observatory Gully in June after a six-month search hampered by deep snowfields. During the same recovery operation, two climbers stuck on Tower Ridge were evacuated by helicopter. The rescue team also attended multiple heat-related incidents as temperatures approached 30°C.

A walker in his 40s became cragfast on the steep West Face of Tryfan after making a navigational error while descending the North Ridge on New Year's Eve. He was safely winched to safety by Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter and taken to base for debrief and warming.

A car lost control on icy Whinlatter Pass and rolled approximately 40 metres down a bank into a beck. The driver escaped serious injury and walked away from the scene. Emergency services including Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team attended the incident during widespread icy conditions across Cumbria.

A woman in her 50s became trapped when her leg became stuck in a crack on Gribin Facet after slipping while walking. Around 16 volunteers from Llanberis and Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue team used washing-up liquid and ropes to free her leg, and she was subsequently airlifted to hospital for assessment.

Three separate groups of walkers were rescued from the Brecon Beacons after becoming lost in poor visibility on Saturday. The incidents involved a family in Neuadd Valley, two additional lost walkers, and a woman on Pen Y Fan. Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team and Brecon Mountain Rescue assisted in the rescues.

A hillwalker from the Glasgow area became lost in the hills near Glen Strathfarrar after a navigational error on Friday and spent a night in the open. He was located on Saturday during a search involving over 30 personnel from five mountain rescue teams, aided by his bright orange survival bag. The incident highlights the importance of wearing high-visibility clothing and being well equipped when hillwalking.

A woman was blown off her feet on Snowdon during Storm Brian on Saturday afternoon and suffered a suspected broken ankle and finger injury. Sixteen Llanberis Mountain Rescue volunteers took four hours to reach her and evacuate her by stretcher down the mountain in extreme weather conditions with wind speeds of 112 mph. She was transferred to hospital for treatment.

A 43-year-old member of Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team died in an accident on Crib Goch, Snowdonia, whilst participating in a team training event on Saturday morning. Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team responded to the incident and North Wales Police is investigating.

A therapy dog named Alfie was part of a hillwalking group on Ben Nevis when one member of the party became exhausted. Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team assisted the group off the mountain, with team member Terry Confield carrying Alfie.

hypothermia Snowdonia
A 19-year-old man climbed Snowdon wearing only Superman underwear as a charity fundraiser on 9 September 2017. He developed hypothermia at the summit and was evaluated by a paramedic at the base but did not require hospital treatment. Mountain rescue issued a plea for visitors to wear appropriate clothing and prepare properly for the mountain.
Outcome: checked by paramedic, did not require hospital treatment

A 64-year-old walker sustained a leg injury in a fall on Goat Fell, Isle of Arran at approximately 13:00 on Wednesday. Arran Mountain Rescue Team attended and carried her to safety on a stretcher, after which she was airlifted to hospital by coastguard helicopter.

1 incident injured walker with life-threatening injuries Lake District Serious incident
Paul Robinson suffered life-threatening injuries including a broken neck in three places, spinal fracture, and tension pneumothorax after falling on Striding Edge in the Lake District. He was rescued by Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, treated in hospital, and later underwent rehabilitation. He has since recovered and is fundraising for the rescue team that assisted in his survival.
